Been too tired the last few mornings to wake up at 6am and so have not had a chance to meditate before starting the day. That’s the good thing about group meditation: you are insulated from demands once you are there. But i’ve decided the hour is too long and the walk there and back is too time consuming.
Anyway, i made an effort to wake early this morning and succeeded. The session itself felt the same. I drifted in and out of concentration having short periods of awareness. I have definitely plateaued. But once again, i felt calm and quiet within after. I am thinking of trying to sit a couple of short sessions during the day.
Which even as I write this seems particularly impossible.
I have been doing some yoga however and went to three sessions over the weekend, two on Sunday. My volunteer english teaching class in the afternoon prevents me from going during the week so i made up for it. Yoga is feeling more and more like it is going to be an essential part of my practice. When the mind is too busy to meditate or the body is too tired to focus, a few rounds of the Sun Salutation works wonders. It was an added bonus that my yoga teacher on Sunday had been to Surinder Singh’s class in Rishikesh and was teaching his version of the Sun Salutation. Brought back many pleasant memories of my time there.
